The Coaching Academy
The BTEC based education programme is delivered by our Partners SCL, an approved BTEC Centre. Woking FC will deliver the football training.
The coaching academy is open to 16-18-year-olds who want to develop their coaching ability, gain nationally recognised qualifications and want a sports-based career. The programme is managed and delivered by SCL in partnership with the club. SCL delivers the education programme and the club delivers the coaching development programme. The course runs over 2 years and is a full-time education and coaching development programme.
What will I study?
There are two pathways* available:
Pathway A: The more academic student will study a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport, with the option for high achieving to students study the Extended Diploma.
Pathway B: The more vocationally focused student will study a VRQ Level 2 Diploma in year 1, progressing on to either a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport or a VRQ Level 3 Diploma in Sport in year 2.
All students will complete a sports coaching qualification. Students who have yet to achieve a GCSE grade 'C' or above in Maths or English will continue to study Functional Skills or GCSE in the required subject(s).
Where will I study?
You will study at the Academy's education facilities based at the club. The education facilities based at the club. The education programme is delivered by SCL, an Ofsted Grade 2 (GOOD) private education provider, specialising in sport. Studying with SCL is your alternative to going to college and provides the best environment for you to succeed.
How much does it cost?
The programme is fully funded, however, you will be given an option to purchase Woking Football Club coaching kit.
